Bondi’s Marine Beauty

Sydney is renowned for a number of things- the iconic Opera House, the beautiful Harbour Bridge and of course Australia’s number 1 beach, Bondi!

Bondi has a lot to offer to it’s visitors, locals and tourists including a surf and sand culture unlike any other. But it is also home to some of Australia’s most beautiful marine life and now the secrets of life underwater are on show at the Marine Discovery Centre located at Bondi Pavilion.

The Discovery centre overlooks Bondi’s beautiful beach just behind the ‘Bondi Rescue’ Lifeguard Tower.

This underwater experience is like no other as guests are able to soak up the magnificent views and see the diverse and abundant life that exists underwater. The centre exhibits real fish in aquaria coupled with audio-visual experiences which transports visitors through Bondi’s amazing marine life all within 30 minutes and without getting even the slightest bit wet.

The journey starts at the Visual Reality Diver Transporter show which takes you up over Sydney and then down through Bondi’s sandy beach, amongst the intense waves and back to the golden shores. Next you are taken to a room which holds a full scale model of the Bondi Boulders, complete with amazing visuals and ceiling projections which will leave you enchanted. Amongst the boulder are little aquariums where you can get up close and meet the local marine life including scorpion fish, crabs, sea stars and the latest edition to the centre, the baby Port Jackson Sharks.

After your personal meet and greet with the sharks you are taken to the Bondi Blue cinema where you get a tour of the rest of Bondi Bay. This film projection took 2 years to make and gives a fish eye’s view of the hidden habitats of Bondi. You will also get the chance to visit the rockpools and pet some of the marine life there.

This experience is one that is nothing short of magical and guaranteed fun for the whole family. So pack the car and head down to Bondi today to experience marine life like never before!
