If you like live music, then you will love the Beach Road Hotel at Bondi Beach. Not only will you get the chance to see some of the best Australian and international artists live and in colour, most of the time it’s free!
Located five minutes’ walk from Bondi Beach, the Beach Road Hotel – or the Beachie, as it’s known to its regulars – is a great hang-out for locals and visitors alike. And with the fantastic musical talent on offer, you might find yourself becoming a regular too.
Beach Road is home to a selection of different bars, each with their own vibe. The front bar caters to sports fans, with pool tables up the back and big screens showing AFL, League, Union and soccer games up the front. The back bar is an excellent choice for food, or go out on the terrace for a lazy afternoon drinking beer in the sunshine.
Head upstairs and you will find more food and drink – and on certain nights, you can try your hand at some pub trivia. On special occasions you will find the place jumping. You can try your hand at two-up on ANZAC Day, or check out the talent during the annual Miss Bondi competition!
But on to the more important stuff – music!
Different nights host different types of music, from Indie to World Music, from Hip Hop to Funk. From the best up-and-coming artists to well-loved favourites, Beach Road has seen them all.
Listeners of triple j will recognise the sounds of Fire! Santa Rosa Fire! and San Cisco, who both played recently. Hip Hop favourites Thundamentals and Joelistics have also been on the line-up, along with many other known and unknown artists who have all rocked the stage and the Beach Road crowds.
If you love intimate gigs, then this is the place for you. Bands get amongst it – they are not separated from the audience by burly bouncers and a high stage. Whether you prefer to put down some moves at the back of the crowds, or get close enough to see the sweat on the lead singer’s upper lip, you can do it at Beach Road.
